Former NBA Star Isaiah Rider -- Arrested in Arizona

Former NBA 1st round draft pick Isaiah "J.R." Rider was arrested in Arizona this week for violating his probation ... TMZ has learned.
Rider -- who played in the NBA from 1993 to 2001 -- is currently behind bars in Maricopa County on a no-bail hold. It's unclear why police believe Rider violated his probation.
Rider's probation stems from a 2010 incident -- where he fled from police after they tried to pull him over for driving erratically. He pled guilty to unlawful flight from a law enforcement vehicle.
Rider has had a long history of run-ins with police -- over the years, he's been arrested for fraud, battery, domestic violence, false reporting, kidnapping and possession of narcotic drugs.
Rider was an NBA journeyman -- who played for the Los Angeles Lakers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Atlanta Hawks, Portland Trail Blazers and the Denver Nuggets.

David Cassidy Sues Sony: I Want My Partridge Family $$$

David Cassidy is suing Sony claiming the studio royally screwed him out of millions of dollars in profits from "The Partridge Family."
According to the lawsuit, obtained by TMZ, Cassidy claims Sony used his image on merchandising without his permission for 40 years -- and has swindled him out of profits the entire time.
According to the suit, Cassidy signed a contract with the production company behind the show in 1971 -- guaranteeing him 15% of net merchandise revenues for the use of his image or likeness ... and 7.5% for all other PF merch.
"The Partridge Family" was only on the air for four years -- from 1970 to 1974 -- but over time, Cassidy claims the show raked in nearly $500 million in profits from board games, lunch boxes, magazines, comic books ... and a laundry list of other swag.
To date, Cassidy claims he has only been paid $5,000. But it doesn't end with merchandise -- Cassidy claims Sony also owes him money for PF re-runs and spin-offs.
Cassidy is suing Sony for breach of contract and fraud -- demanding millions in damages. A rep for Sony tells TMZ, “We have dealt with Mr. Cassidy in a completely lawful and appropriate way, and are confident that we will prevail in any proceeding.”

The home video release is a filmed version of Perry’s stage play A Madea Christmas, in which Madea, Aunt Bam (Cassi Davis) and Co. trek to well-to-do Cape Cod to clash with some unreasonable uppity folk. Guess who’ll be doling out lessons in good, old fashioned Christmasy values?
Look, I’ve had a newfound, unironic appreciation for Perry and his Madea schtick ever since I found myself rolling in the aisles (pretty much by myself, but still) during Madea’s Big Happy Family. And do you know what this Madea joint has that the other Madea films and plays don’t? MUSICAL NUMBERS!
A Madea Christmas hits shelves November 22. I know what my fellow Movieline editors are getting for Christmas. Stocking stuffer!

Michael Jackson wanted to dedicate his "This Is It" concerts to his children -- and in a heartbreaking conversation Dr. Conrad Murray recorded weeks before the singer died, MJ claims, "I love them because I didn't have a childhood."
You can hear MJ's voice in the recording -- slurred, incoherent -- explaining how he wanted to outdo The Beatles and Elvis with his final concerts, and go down in history as the greatest entertainer who ever lived.
Michael becomes extremely emotional while speaking about his children -- claiming, "I had no childhood. I feel their pain. I feel their hurt."
Murray recorded the conversation on his iPhone on Sunday May 10th, 2009 at 9:05 AM. It's unclear why -- but according to prosecutors, it documents MJ under the influence of "unknown agents." It also shows Murray was familiar with Michael in altered states of mind.
At one point in the clip, Murray asks Michael if he's okay -- and Michael responds, "I am asleep."
The recording -- a clip of which Prosecutor David Walgren played during his opening statement -- was uncovered by investigators after they seized Murray's device.

Amanda Knox and her family will be arriving in Seattle in the next few hours ... and TMZ has learned multiple security agencies, including U.S. Customs and the TSA are working together to execute a safety plan.
TMZ spoke with Port of Seattle Police spokesman Perry Cooper -- who tells us the Knox family contacted authorities to ask for the extra help ... and also to request a media area be set up so they can make a statement once the family touches down.
Amanda has been locked up in an Italian prison since 2007 -- when she was first suspected of killing her roommate, Meredith Kercher. Knox was cleared of the murder yesterday -- and she was immediately released from custody.
Cooper tells us the TSA, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, Airport Police and the Port of Seattle Police will all take part in the security effort.
Cooper notes that while the safety of the Knox family is important, officials believe the main concern is keeping the entire airport secure.

WATCH: Michelle Yeoh as Aung San Suu Kyi in Full Trailer for Luc Besson?s The Lady

Let’s cut to the chase: Michelle Yeoh looks simply amazing in the first full trailer for Luc Besson’s The Lady, the story of Burmese politician Aung San Suu Kyi and the two decades she spent as a political prisoner in her own country. The film played Toronto last month but doesn’t yet have a U.S. release date, which is too bad because after glimpsing the uncharacteristically restrained (and gorgeously shot) work here by Besson, it’s one of the more intriguing upcoming releases on my radar.
Well, there are two close-range murder shots in the trailer alone, not to mention a few uber-vilified military figures on hand, making Besson’s moral stance even clearer while he adds some action-oriented flair. But what makes the trailer for The Lady compelling is, again, Yeoh. She’s supported by David Thewlis as Suu Kyi’s husband Michael Aris, who was only able to visit his wife in Burma a handful of times between her 1989 arrest and his death in 1999.
One question: What’s up the vaguely Batman Begins-sounding music playing underneath the otherwise seriousface trailer? Regardless, I’m in.
Verdict: Both ladies have me hooked — Suu Kyi and Yeoh.

Sources close to Tareq Salahi tell TMZ he is pitching a dating show to various networks, with the title ... "Seducing Salahi."
We're told the show would shoot at his winery in Virginia and would be of the "Flavor of Love" variety -- with 14 women competing for Tareq's affection.
According to our sources, several networks are interested ... so don't say we didn't warn you.

Russell Brand -- Canada Won't Let Me In!

Russell Brand has managed to find another country that doesn't want him -- he's been denied entry to Canada.
Brand first tweeted, possibly while still flying, "HELP! I'm gonna be late for Casino Rama show unless someone can force Canadian customs officials to let us land in Orillia!"
He then tweeted a few hours later that his concert tonight was cancelled because he couldn't get in the country (see above).
Brand was deported from Japan back in May while trying to visit with his wife, Katy Perry.
The media in Canada paints a different story -- saying Russell was not turned away by customs, but rather his plane was having issues.
